Knowledge management – ‘a thinking about thinking’ |
In essence, it is a method for capturing the gist of what each member of the team learns in the course of a new task or project so another member can use it later.
|
| |
Knowledge Management caters to the critical
issues of organizational adaptation, survival and competence
in face of increasingly discontinuous environmental
change.... Essentially, it embodies organizational processes
that seek synergistic combination of data and information
processing capacity of information technologies, and the
creative and innovative capacity of human beings." |
| |
Osprosys’ Knowledge Management seeks to
make the best use of the knowledge that is available to our
organization, creating new knowledge in the process. It is
helpful to make a clear distinction between knowledge on the
one hand, and information and data on the other. "Knowledge
capture” -Managing this capture allows our system to grow
into a powerful information asset. |
| |
Knowledge Management involved developing
sophisticated data analysis and retrieval systems with
little thought to how the information contained would be
developed or used. Osprosys’ best strategy was to make tacit
knowledge explicit. We look more closely at the ways in
which knowledge is created and shared. So a link grew
between learning theory and management. |
| |
Osprosys relates knowledge management with
organizational learning. We believe that learning and doing
are more important to organizational success than
dissemination and imitation. |
